Her 1988 experimental bone marrow transplant, she says, was \u201ca last-ditch attempt to save my life. I beat the eight percent odds of survival and vowed to transform myself, to make the most of my second chance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lynch\u2019s proposal was selected from among 21 entries for the prize, which is awarded for the best nonfiction book proposal by a University of King\u2019s College MFA in Creative Nonfiction student in their graduating year, or by an alumnus. The proposals include sample chapters and sections describing their book\u2019s marketability.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/ukings.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">University of King\u2019s College prize,<\/a> established by the generosity of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Penguin Random House Canada<\/a>\u00a0in partnership with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wcaltd.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Westwood Creative Artists literary agency<\/a>\u00a0celebrates excellence in creative nonfiction and is awarded for the best nonfiction book proposal prepared by a student in their graduating year, or by an alumnus.
